An engaging decarbonisation experience with Power Kid

An engaging decarbonisation experience with Power Kid

The Power Kid Mobile App is the electronic version of the POWER YOU Kindergarten Education Kit. As a parent, you can use our fun and engaging ” Light out the city “ to teach your child about: Electricity; Energy efficiency and conservation; and How to adopt low-carbon lifestyles.

Overview

01 | Team Vision

Children can learn about decarbonisation through three interesting games, including MC, pairing game, and spot the wrong area. Children can choose their favourite characters and play with friends or bots to answer all questions. In the games, they are able to unlock hidden maps, equipment, and cards by earning coins.

02 | My Role

As a UX Designer, I worked collaboratively with another UI designer to design wireframes, interfaces, and icons, and oversee the design direction. Moreover, I asked CLP to conduct a workshop for children to play the prototype and iterate based on their feedback.

03 | Challenge

This is the first time I have worked on a game design project, and I have to work with the client as well as the developer to solve a number of technical problems during the idea generation phase

Use the terms that 3+ children might understand

Game 1 - Multiple Questions

  • The questions can cover a wide range of subjects, such as renewable energy, waste management, biodiversity, urban planning, and more.

  • Each question typically has 3-4 possible answer choices, and the player must select the correct answer.

Game 2 - Pairing

  • The pairings could involve matching a renewable energy source with its corresponding technology, a recycling symbol with its material type, or an endangered species with its habitat.

  • This game method encourages players to think critically about the relationships between different environmental concepts and components.

Game 3

  • The player's task is to carefully examine different elements and identify the differences, which could be related to things like energy sources, pollution levels, vegetation, or urban infrastructure.

  • This game method encourages players to observe their surroundings more closely and become more aware of environmental details and changes.
